Statement: Zero tolerance for abuse or violence against pharmacy staff

Duncan Rudkin, Chief Executive of the General Pharmaceutical Council, said:

“We share the widespread view across pharmacy that there should be zero tolerance for abuse or violence against pharmacy staff.

“We have been impressed by the steps many pharmacies have taken to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff during the pandemic, so that pharmacy teams can continue to support their patients and communities with confidence. We have also been encouraged by the appreciation shown by many people using and valuing pharmacy services.
