Update: reforms to initial education and training of pharmacists

The UK Chief Pharmaceutical Officers, the General Pharmaceutical Council and the Pharmaceutical Society NI have written a joint letter to provide an update on the major reforms to the initial education and training of pharmacists that are being taken forward across the United Kingdom. 

The letter has been sent to stakeholders with an interest in pharmacy education and training across Great Britain.

Registration fees for pharmacy premises to increase from April 2021

The General Pharmaceutical Council announces revised fee structure for registered pharmacy premises with effect from 1 April 2021

The governing council of the GPhC has agreed to increase the registered pharmacy entry and annual renewal fees from £262 to £365, to reflect the cost of regulating each pharmacy premises.

GPhC position on COVID-19 rapid antibody tests

Our Chief Executive and Registrar Duncan Rudkin has written to pharmacy owners and superintendent pharmacists via email to highlight our position concerning the provision and sale of COVID-19 rapid antibody tests from community pharmacies. 

Duncan explains that in the light of current public health advice, it is not appropriate for them to be sold in community pharmacies or recommended by pharmacy professionals at this point in time.
