Safety features Delegated Regulation under the Falsified Medicines Directive: Joint statement from the MHRA and GPhC

Roles of the regulators as FMD legislation comes into force 

On 9 February 2019 the legal requirements of the safety features Delegated Regulation under the Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD) come into force. All health and care providers, including registered pharmacies, are expected to meet the requirements under UK law.

More data on June 2018 registration assessment performance

We have released more data about the performance of candidates in the June 2018 registration assessment, including:

  • first attempt candidates’ percentage pass rate by training provider
  • anonymised marks of individual candidates who passed the assessment at the first attempt and trained in either hospital or community settings, as well as the school of pharmacy where they studied

To protect candidates’ personal data, the information includes only those statistics where individual candidates cannot be identified.

More data on June 2018 registration assessment performance

We have released more data about the performance of candidates in the June 2018 registration assessment, including:

GPhC launches consultation on initial education and training standards for pharmacists

The GPhC has launched a landmark consultation proposing significant changes to the initial education and training of pharmacists.

The proposals in the consultation include: 

  • having one set of standards and learning outcomes that cover the full period of education and training before initial registration as a pharmacist, with closer integration between academic study and practical experience 

  • strengthening experiential learning and inter-professional learning
