The Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Matt Hancock, has written to all health and care staff in England, to give more information about the Government’s ongoing preparation for leaving the European Union, including:

The GPhC is seeking views on proposed guidance for pharmacist prescribers to make sure they provide safe and effective care when prescribing.

The guidance sets out nine key areas that relate to the provision of safe and effective prescribing. Pharmacist prescribers should consider the first eight areas when prescribing, to ensure safe and effective care. These are:

1. taking responsibility for prescribing safely

2. keeping up to date and prescribing within your level of competence

We have published our new enforcement policy for registered pharmacies which sets out the approach and principles we will follow when using our enforcement options and supports consistent decision-making.
