Joint statement from the General Pharmaceutical Council and Royal Pharmaceutical Society on the safety features under the Falsified Medicines Directive coming into force

The legal requirements of the safety features Delegated Regulation under the Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD) will be in force from 9 February 2019 onwards. 

The chief executives of the GPhC and RPS met earlier this week to discuss professional concerns around FMD implementation.

Safety features Delegated Regulation under the Falsified Medicines Directive: Joint statement from the MHRA and GPhC

Roles of the regulators as FMD legislation comes into force 

On 9 February 2019 the legal requirements of the safety features Delegated Regulation under the Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD) come into force. All health and care providers, including registered pharmacies, are expected to meet the requirements under UK law.

More data on June 2018 registration assessment performance

We have released more data about the performance of candidates in the June 2018 registration assessment, including:

  • first attempt candidates’ percentage pass rate by training provider
  • anonymised marks of individual candidates who passed the assessment at the first attempt and trained in either hospital or community settings, as well as the school of pharmacy where they studied

To protect candidates’ personal data, the information includes only those statistics where individual candidates cannot be identified.
